Color Counts

by Diane

My working abacus is made out of felted wool beads, bamboo skewers, balsa wood and fabric. I wondered whether the piece is too "assembled" for this challenge but decided that there was lots of sewing involved. The result not only represents mathematics in terms of the abacus itself, but making the piece involved calculations to make it all fit together. More details in my blogpost.
